| Commonly known as “The Pink Nuns,”
this congregation was founded by Arnold Janssen and Mother Mary Michaele
in Steyl, Holland, December 8, 1896. Eighteen years later Archbishop Prendergast
of Philadelphia asked the sisters to staff the newly erected chapel and
Convent of Divine Love in Philadelphia. They have since spread to St. Louis,
Holland, Germany, the Philippines, Argentina, and China. |

| Maryknoll Sisters |
| Mother Mary Joseph of Boston, Massachusetts,
founded this foreign missionary society at Maryknoll, New York, in 1912.
In 1920, they were canonically erected as the Foreign Mission Sisters of
St. Dominic. Twelve years later, a cloistered branch was instituted. Their
purpose is to engage in all types of mission work, both at home and abroad,
conducting schools and medical clinics in nearly all their missions. |
